Get ready to queue up! The Record Exchange, Idaho’s “largest independent music store, steadfastly expanding Idaho’s musical boundaries since 1977,” is celebrating Record Store Day with a l-o-n-g weekend-long celebration starting on Thursday, April 18 until Sunday, April 20.
The Record Exchange has been celebrating Record Store Day since 2008 during the Great Recession. It was originally created to remind communities of the joys of gathering to share the experience of music in a record store. Exclusive records are released throughout the weekend, much to the delight of vinyl lovers and spin doctors who wait for the annual event with much anticipation. This is the 17th annual celebration.
The Record Exchange will have about 400 exclusive Record Store Day releases available on Saturday, including vinyl releases from Noah Kahan, Olivia Rodrigo, The 1975, Talking Heads, Paramore, Fleetwood Mac, Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, Pearl Jam, The Beatles, David Bowie, The Cure, The Who, The Doors, Rolling Stones, Laufey, Chappell Roan, Holly Humberstone, MUNA, Sabrina Carpenter, Summer Walker, Briston Maroney, Wallows, Ateez, Ashnikko, 100 gecs, Lil Peep, Ramones, The Replacements and more — visit recordstoreday.com for details, cover images and a printable PDF.
“As music collectors ourselves, we’re always giddy with excitement to see each year’s list of Record Store Day exclusives,” said co-owner Chad Dryden, “but the holiday is much more than the releases — it’s a celebration of the community and culture in and around record stores, which is why we turn it into a weekend-long event.”
