Let's face it — not all of us were born to cook. By “all of us” I am pointing the finger at myself and hoping someone out there can relate, as my abilities to cook only go as far as the frozen section at Trader Joes. When I stumbled upon these “gourmet one-pot meals” by Tiberino at A’tavola, I knew instantly it was going to be something I could make, and would be appetizing. With no preservatives, glutamate or chemical additives it seemed pretty authentic all sucked tightly in a vacuum-sealed package.
They have a variety of pasta flavors, including: spicy pennette, linguine with tomato and basil, trofiette with pesto genovese, and even risotto with lemon zest. I decided on the spaghetti with herbs option to keep it simple. The most important thing when making this is to follow directions, even A'tavola's cook reminded me as I was checking out. It's simple as 1,2,3 — boil the water, add the package of ingredients; don’t drain, just serve.
As soon as I cut the package open, the smell of the spices and herbs were overwhelming in the best way possible. I made sure to carefully dump the contents in the pot, ensuring not one herb gets left out of this pasta party. It only took around 10 minutes to cook, with the noodles soaking up the water to create a thick, homemade-like sauce.
My house was filled with an amazing aroma that made visitors believe I had worked all day on this pasta dish. Containing three servings, this dish was a hit with the entire household, and kept everyone full and satisfied, as well as reminiscing on it hours after the meal had concluded.
Whether you're trying to impress a special someone, need a quick meal to feed the family, or are a struggling cook like myself — this is the meal prep for you.
